PsorRock: A Benefit Concert for Psoriasis Philippines

On August 20, 2011, Psoriasis Philippines is celebrating its 6th year anniversary. As part of the celebration PsorPhil is staging a benefit concert entitled: 'PsorRocks!'

PsorRock will start at 7:00PM on Baypark, Rajah Sulayman Plaza, Roxas Blvd., Manila. The following artists and bands volunteered to perform in helping our cause:

This concert aims to let people know that PSORIASIS IS NOT CONTAGIOUS! For those who doesn't know what psoriasis is, psoriasis is a life-long skin disorder. Imagine this, normal skin produces new skin cells every 36-48 days. A psoriasis patient produces skin within 24-48 hours, which causes skin inflammation and red scaly patches. I won't go to a more scientific details but bottom line is, having psoriasis is hard. It has no known cure but it is treatable. Not only is it skin-deep but having psoriasis entails a debilitating psoriatic arthritis and latest studies also show that psoriasis patients are more prone to diabetes, heart dieases, Crohn's diease, cancer and other life-threatening diseases.

1.9 million Filipinos are believed to be suffering in silence with this disease. Most people with psoriasis choose to hide and withdraw from society for fear of being ridiculed and disliked by the public. Most of them are discriminated, not getting hired or being terminated at work because people think that it is contagious.
